Lawrence offers three public and two private courses to choose from. Alvamar Country Club is cited as one of America's best by Golf Digest, and Eagle Bend, hosts National tournaments.
Clinton Lake
Located just three miles southwest of Lawrence, Clinton Lake provides 7,000 surface acres for boating, swimming and fishing. Boating World magazine listed Clinton as one of "The 50 Best Boating Lakes" in the country.
Hiking and Biking
A wide variety of multi-use trails are available in Lawrence for bicyclists, hikers, joggers, walkers and nature lovers. The League of American Bicyclists has designated Lawrence as a "Biker-Friendly Community."
Prairie Park Nature Center
The Prairie Park Nature Center, located at 2730 Harper St., hosts a vast system of trails, a bird-watching area and prairie observatory. The park encompasses 71 acres and contains approximately eight acres of virgin, never-plowed prairie with nearly 180 species of native plants.
Baker Wetlands
Home to a rare species of frog and nesting ground of the blue heron, you never know what you might find on a walk through the wetlands.
