Civil War on the Western Frontier
Each August Lawrence, Kan. remembers its Civil War history with Civil War on the Western Frontier, a week of commemorative events centering on Lawrence's history from 1854 to 1865. This year marks the 13th anniversary of the event and will feature citywide activities from August 6-21. Programs will include dramatic performances, scholarly lectures, living history and reenactments – all designed to impart an understanding of and appreciation for Lawrence's fiery history.
