LAWRENCE, Kan.--The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau (LCVB) was presented with two marketing awards at the Travel Industry Association of Kansas’ (TIAK) annual meeting held October 18-20 in Overland Park, Kan.
The LCVB received an award for best print advertising campaign and for best overall advertising promotion for a series of ads designed to lure KU alumni back to Lawrence to revisit their college town. The awards were based on the aesthetic appeal, conceptual merit and innovation of the pieces. The Kansas I-70 Association, of which Lawrence is a member, was also recognized for its cooperatively-produced informational brochure and map. The TIAK marketing awards program recognizes and honors those organizations that have made a positive impact on the development and expansion of the travel and tourism industry in Kansas. A panel of advertising and marketing professionals determines the award winners.
Other conference highlights included sessions on branding and marketing, the use of social media in the visitor industry, community engagement and economic development as well as updates from the U.S. Travel Association and Kansas’ Lieutenant Governor, Troy Findley. TIAK is dedicated to the promotion and development of travel and tourism in Kansas. The primary mission is to speak with a unified voice for the travel industry in Kansas -- influencing, educating and supporting all components of the travel industry.
