Lawrence, Kan. – The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced that the second annual Tour of Lawrence cycling event will return to Lawrence July 2 - 4, 2010. This USA Cycling sanctioned Pro-AM event features three races during the weekend, and brings world-class cycling to town in a spectator-friendly format.

LAWRENCE, Kan.--The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau (LCVB) was presented with two marketing awards at the Travel Industry Association of Kansas’ (TIAK) annual meeting held October 18-20 in Overland Park, Kan.

Lawrence, Kan. — Lawrence residents Kerry Altenbernd, and the Brad & Carrie Mayhew family, will attend the 150th Anniversary Festival, October 16-18, 2009 commemorating John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry that took place on those dates in 1859. Altenbernd will represent the Black Jack Trust, a non-profit group overseeing the development of the Black Jack Battlefield and Nature Park in southern Douglas County, and the Mayhews will perform at the event.

Lawrence, Kan. — The Kaw Valley region of northeast Kansas offers a wealth of unique agricultural sights, tastes and traditions. The 2009 Kaw Valley Farm Tour, October 3-4, celebrates those experiences. Eighteen participating farms will open their venues to the public for the weekend of October 3-4 and will offer special activities for kids, families and adults that are available only during the tour. The farms will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

 LAWRENCE, Kan. — Each August Lawrence remembers its Civil War history during Civil War on the Western Frontier (CWWF). CWWF events commemorate the region’s turbulent period from 1854 to 1865. This year marks the 14th anniversary of CWWF and features a variety of activities from August 8-22. Programs include dramatic performances, scholarly lectures, living history and reenactments – all designed to impart an understanding of and appreciation for the region’s fiery history and the pre-Civil War era.
