LAWRENCE, Kan.--The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau (LCVB) was presented with four marketing awards at the Travel Industry Association of Kansas’ (TIAK) annual meeting held October 8-11, 2006 in Dodge City.
The LCVB’s website, www.visitlawrence.com, received first place in the professionally developed website category. The site features an online booking engine that allows visitors to book hotel rooms directly from the LCVB website while planning their trip as well as a comprehensive calendar of events for visitors. Also taking first place was a series of LCVB direct mail pieces that have been sent to potential visitors who have expressed interest in learning more about Lawrence as a destination. The direct mail pieces featured information about seasonal attractions and events.
The Lawrence Visitor Guide received two awards at the recent conference. The guide was named best professionally-produced Visitor Guide in the state and also received the People’s Choice Award, which is voted on by all conference attendees. The Lawrence Visitor Guide features information about area attractions, dining, shopping and accommodations.
The awards are based on the aesthetic appeal, conceptual merit and innovation of the pieces. The TIAK marketing awards program recognizes and honors those organizations that have made a positive impact on the development and expansion of the travel and tourism industry in Kansas. A panel of advertising and marketing professionals determines the award winners.
TIAK is a private, non-profit association dedicated to the promotion and development of travel and tourism in Kansas. The primary mission is to speak with a unified voice for the travel industry in Kansas — influencing, educating and supporting all components of the travel industry.
