Lawrence CVB announces 2005 direct spending figures
Lawrence, Kan. – The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau has released its annual figures regarding direct spending by visitors to Lawrence. During 2005, spending by visitors totaled approximately $42 million.
That spending was generated by an estimated 752,446 visitors and produced $840,159 in local sales tax. Of those visitors, approximately 421,370 were overnight guests and 331,076 are estimated to be daytrip visitors.
Other 2005 highlights include:
MEETINGS/CONVENTIONS/SPORTING EVENTS
- Economic impact from conventions and meetings of $2.89 million
- 252 conventions and meetings held in Lawrence with a total of 32,073 attendees*
- as reported to the LCVB
- 52 bid proposals for future conferences generated by the LCVB
LAWRENCE VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER
- 12,701 registered guests at the Lawrence Visitor Information Center, with 47% of those from out-of-state
- 2,634 calls received seeking Visitor Information
MARKETING
- 316,618 user sessions on www.visitlawrence.com, an increase of 58% over last year
- 7,930 requests for information were generated by LCVB placed advertising
- $543,325 of earned editorial coverage generated about Lawrence
