LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau (LCVB) will host its first quarterly hospitality employee training session on Thursday, January 27, from 3-6 p.m. The event will begin and end at the Visitor Information Center, 402 N. 2nd St., with participants also visiting several area attractions during the training.

Hospitality employees are often the first point of contact for visitors when they arrived in Lawrence. These sessions will provide staff with useful information about Lawrence so they can effectively answer guests’ questions and help make visits enjoyable. Participants will learn about local attractions, upcoming events, area history and how they can use the LCVB as a resource to provide Lawrence visitors with a positive experience.

To achieve that goal while having fun, hotel teams will compete for prizes by visiting the assigned attractions, researching answers to additional questions using CVB-produced literature, and participating in a quiz-show contest to test their knowledge. Prizes will be awarded to the team showing the most team spirit, and a short networking time will encourage participants to visit and share success stories.

The Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau is dedicated to: Improving the local economy by attracting visitors, meetings, conventions and events to the city; encouraging economic growth by providing quality services to visitors; responsibly managing transient guest tax funds; and maintaining productive working relationships with partners in the business community.
