USA Cycling has selected KU Cycling Club and the Lawrence Sports Corporation to host the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Collegiate Road Cycling National Championships. KLM Marketing Solutions will manage the event. Competition will take place in the Lawrence area, with more than 500 riders competing in the three-day event May 13-15, 2005. The competition will consist of a road race, criterium and team trial, each offering a challenge to riders of all levels. In addition to the Collegiate Division, which is expected to draw 350-375 riders from universities and colleges from across the country, a Junior Division will be offered in 2005 for riders 18 years and younger.

This will mark the first time that Lawrence has hosted the Collegiate Road National Championships. “We are very excited and honored to be the host city for this great sporting event, "said Andy Phelps, president of KU Cycling. “We have put a lot of time and effort into bringing the event to Lawrence. The support has been overwhelming from the Lawrence Sports Corporation, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Sunflower Bike Shop, Star Signs and Graphics, KLM Marketing and the University of Kansas. All entities are dedicated to making sports an integral part of Lawrence.”

The Lawrence Sports Corporation (LSC), a division of the Lawrence Convention and Visitors Bureau, is a supporting sponsor of the Collegiate Road Cycling National Championships.
