Tour the vineyard and tasting room of Douglas County's First Licensed Winery. Wines are made from 100% Kansas products, and 99% of that percentage is fruit grown in eastern Douglas County. Davenport's has been awarded medals from international wine competitions. A variety of wines--grape, fruit, red, white, sweet, dry--to satisfy a wide range of tastes.

Learn about one of the United States Indian Industrial Training Schools established in 1884. Now known as Haskell Indian Nations University and the home to approximately 900 students from 160 tribes, Haskell has gone through many changes over the years. It began as a training school for children ranging from five to 18 years of age and is now an accredited four-year university.

View an excellent 27 minute docu-drama. The film chronicles the first 10 years of Lawrence's history and culminates with Quantrill's Raid on the city in 1863. This is a good introduction to Lawrence's fiery beginnings. Reservations required.

This community museum specializes in exhibits dealing with Lawrence history. Past exhibits have included "James Naismith: The Basketball Man," "Lucy Hobbs Taylor: First Woman Dentist" and "Voices of the Civil War," a traveling national exhibit. For those who are young at heart, you can also visit the children's room.
