This nationally recognized museum studies the life of the planet5 and seeks to discover, document and share knowledge of the Earth's biological diversity and natural environments, both past and present. The museum contains a panorama of North American plants and animals in a 186-foot continuous exhibit that presents realistic scenes of wildlife from the arctic coast of Alaska to the tropical rain forests of Mexico.

With its state-of-the-art exhibits, soaring stained-glass American flag — the world's largest — stirring World Trade Center Memorial and Memory Wall honoring this state's World War II veterans, the Dole Institute on KU's West Campus is a must see while in Lawrence. Interactive exhibits trace the career of Senator Dole and Kansas' colorful past. The spectacular 3,300-square-foot Hansen Hall is capable of seating 250 theatre style or 120 for lunch or dinner.
